Every morning, the parasail crew congregates by the shed to prepare supplies for the Ultimate Adventure. We load frosty cold kegs, cases of wine and champagne, margarita mix for the Commotion on the Ocean. We sort out bagels, muffins, and fresh fruit, lunchmeat, potato salad, and fried chicken. All of this gets loaded into the back of the Fury mobile and shuttled to the catamarans.
This morning, we heard a distinctive “meeooww…” coming from the side of the shed. Julie was the first to notice, and sure enough, there was a mama cat and a litter of kittens nestled in a crevice a few feet down from our supplies. Read the rest of this entry »

The Key West and Caribbean Fury side by side at Ocean Key
This morning, when I arrived to the Ocean Key House to check in our customers for the Ultimate Adventure, my eyes did a double take. Docked in the marina was not one, but two Fury catamarans. I knew that the Caribbean Fury, our fourth catamaran had been in the final stages of completion over the last two weeks. I knew that Stephen, Chad, Zac, and Captain Chuck had sailed it from the boatyard in New Orleans where it was constructed to Key West this week, but this morning was the first time that I laid eyes on her. Yesterday, I worked on the parasail boat with Captain Davey. As I stood at the stern harnessing in a couple of parasailers, I noticed that all four of our boats were zooming around the harbor. I watched as Captain Adam and Julie inflated their parachute on Fly Girl.
To my surprise, I saw a brand new custom parachute with the Fury logo on it in a gorgeous shade of blue. Read the rest of this entry »

A lot of these customers come to us off the cruise ships. Many of our guests were not only celebrating the start of summer, but also big events like high school or college graduation. It was fun working this week sharing with our customers this exciting time of life. Read the rest of this entry »
Today on the parasail boat with Captain Scotty, we noticed something unusual falling from the sky. Along the northeast horizon dozens of parachutes floated towards land as a giant military aircraft swooped by.
“What do you think that’s for?” I asked Scotty. “Air Force? Navy? Coastguard?” Read the rest of this entry »
For weeks the USS Vandenberg has been docked in the Navy Mole adjacent to the Westin Marina. Tuesday morning shopkeepers along the docks watched its dramatic departure seven miles offshore towards a sandy stretch of the Florida Straits. This is where the Vandenberg would find its final resting place 140 feet below the sea to create the world’s second largest artificial reef.
Fury was selected as the official press boat and our crew arrived early Wednesday morning to prepare. No ships were allowed within a half mile of the Vandenberg when the explosives were detonated at 10am, but Fury was front row to view the spectacle. The 523 foot long, 17,000 ton vessel sunk within minutes.Read the rest of this entry »
Living in Key West, our customers at Fury often pose the question, “If you live in such a great vacation destination, where do you actually go for vacation?” All of us have different answers to this question, of course. Some of the guys are diehard surfers who seek out tropical locales with a good break. Others head back home to the mainland to visit family and friends.Read the rest of this entry »
