Chad, our senior catamaran mate, said it best Monday night aboard the Commotion, Fury’s official Key West Sunset Sail with Live Music, “In Key West, we are spoiled when it comes to live music.” It’s true, so many bars and restaurants are filled with the sounds of musicians day and night. (more…)

Massacoustics Rock The Commotion

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

They headlined a sold out sunset earlier this month. I’ll admit, I’d heard the buzz about the Massacoustics for years, but I’d never seen them perform. I quickly realized what I’d been missing out on. (more…)

Happy Hour at the Conch Farm.

Happy Hour at the Conch Farm.

by Shayne Benowitz

During the University of Georgia’s Spring Break week this year, my little brother and his girlfriend came down for a visit. They had a great time relaxing on Smathers Beach, partying on Duval, and of course, the highlight of their trip was the Ultimate Adventure and the Commotion on the Ocean. While they were here, I was reminded of just how important it is for college kids to make their dollar stretch, especially when it comes to alcohol.

It’s always a deal at Fury where all of our trips include complimentary beer, wine, and wine spritzers, not to mention margaritas on the Commotion and Reef & Rita afternoon snorkel trip, rum punch on the Rum & Reggae sunset snorkel, and champagne on all of our sunset cruises. Once you get off the boat, there’s plenty of deals at bars around town. You’ve just gotta know where to go! Here’s a guide to the cheapest drinks on the island. Enjoy! (more…)

2010 Regatta Week Gets Underway

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

by Shayne Benowitz

The 2010 Key West Regatta gets underway tomorrow morning with its first race. Over the weekend, teams of sailors and their sporty sailboats filled the island’s marinas with rows of masts swaying in the breeze. The harbor served as a final training ground as their vessels tacked up and down the channel, spinnakers unfurled, throughout the afternoon.

This is North America’s premiere annual regatta and top sailors from all over the world are descending upon Key West to race in multiple divisions and classes. Amongst the competitors are Olympians, America’s Cup winners, and World Champions. Each day is jam-packed with sponsored races from morning to afternoon. (more…)
