This is Stella, the six month old daughter of Karen Freeman from our marketing team. Last week she was strolling along the docks at the Westin (in her stroller, of course!) enjoying the gorgeous day. She took a particular liking to our parasail crew and their fleet. Captain Marius thought she was inquiring about the trip and wanted to go for a ride! Unfortunately, Stella will have to wait a few more years before she can enjoy the view from 300 feet in the air. We’ve got her reservation for 2017!

How can your bundle of joy get Stella’s adorable Fury look? Well, the Surf Shack Kid’s store is chock full of surfer baby swag. You can get your little tike some commemorative Fury apparel or opt for kiddy clothes from other top surf brands. Looking to do some shopping for the whole family? With the Surf Shack’s three stores–two at the Westin Marina and one on Duval Street–you can’t go wrong picking up a unique souvenir you’ll actually wear or a great present for someone back at home.

Whether it’s shopping, parasailing, or just enjoying a beautiful day in paradise, we hope you keep Fury in mind during your time in Key West!

by Shayne Benowitz

With summertime heating up, I’ve been dying to update my wardrobe. Fortunately, the Fury Surf Shack has got me covered. With three locations in Key West, there seems to always be something new.

Not only are shades absolutely essential in our line of work on the water, but they’re also serious style staples. When it comes to sunglasses, I say the bigger the better. That’s exactly why I opted for Von Zipper’s Prowler. It’s also what our manager Marius and check-in chica Annabelle recently selected. We were tickled by the coincidence, and the fact that our frames are all different. I’ve got the glossy black ones, Marius’ are a matte pin stripe, and Annabelle’s are tortoise shell. They’re also available at the Surf Shack in white if you’d like to join our cool kids Prowler club (come on, I know you want to!).

Surf wear has caught up with the body-conscious styles that have been all over the fashion mags. I’ve scooped up a denim pencil skirt from Von Zipper and a stretchy mini skirt in a bright pattern from Billabong. Horizontal stripes are also hot. Meredith, a Fury jack-of-all-trades, snagged an adorable Billabong nautical striped, long-sleeved, body-skimming mini that is absolutely to die for! In fact, Billabong is all around hot these days with lots of modern styles in all three of our shops.

Of course, it’s not summertime in Key West without bathing suits, and the Surf Shack is fully stocked. I’ve been drawn to bikinis with unique cuts like criss-cross straps from Roxy and sexy braided straps from Reef.

Whatever you’re looking for in summertime surf apparel, the Surf Shack’s definitely got you covered. Swing by our two locations at the Westin marina and our newest shop at the foot of Duval for your next shopping spree.

The doors are open! Stroll down the foot of Duval Street and you can’t miss her. The brand new Fury Surf Shack between Front and Green Streets is open for business. You’ll recognize the surfboard at the entrance, the iconic Fury logo, and the Key West Quiksilver destination t-shirts in the window. Inside this spacious new shop, you’ll find something for everyone.

Only two weeks ago, Marius showed me the completely empty space, and now its full of killer merchandise. Yesterday was its first full day of business, so I swung by after work to take a look. The walls were gleaming with bikinis and board shorts, and the racks were full of stylish cover-ups, t-shirts, and flip-flops.

Meredith and Marius at the register.

Meredith was working and she pointed out a cute pink and black striped Volcom bikini that she wanted, as well as a scandalous black Brazilian cut bikini. I tried on a black RVCA romper and some soft cotton Roxy loungewear shorts that looked like acid washed denim. There were lots of colorful, long dresses, perfect for a breezy evening on the island.

For the men, there were some pretty swank button-down shirts by RVCA, as well as the requisite casual surfwear. Of course, if you’re in search of great accessories like sports watches, sunglasses, skateboards, and hats, the Surf Shack has you covered with the best brands: Rip Curl, Ray Ban, Von Zipper, Sector Nine, Quiksilver, and the list goes on and on! There’s also an excellent selection of surf wear for the little tikes in your life.

Merchandise in the new store.

While I was there, Marius came in to proudly show off all of his hard work. I look forward to doing some serious shopping at Fury on Duval and I’m certain the store will be a major success. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to purchase you’re souvenir Fury crew t-shirts from our new Duval Street location, too. Happy shopping!

Keeping up with fashion in Key West is like nowhere else in the world. On a small island where we’re accustomed to eternal summer, we don’t take much notice to anything that doesn’t translate well on and off the water. At Fury, we have a few trendsetters shuffling along the docks, not to mention a Surf Shack at our check-in booth where you can scoop up the latest styles that these fashion-forward Fury mates rock. This is the first interview in a new semi-regular series “Fury Style File.” Our first subject is WJ, better known around town as “Dubz,” a Fury catamaran mate and skateboard designer. Read on to see how you can cop his funky rocker-meets-skater-punk style.

What are you wearing?

My hat’s a new Volcom from the Surf Expo in Orlando. The rash guard is Quiksilver from the Surf Shack. It has a hood and a bill, which is good for work because it keeps the jellyfish away from me and it has UV protection. The bill’s great because the sun doesn’t hit your eyes. My board shorts are Billabong, and the sandals are Quiksilver from the Surf Shack. I like them because they’re super retro and cool neon.

I’ve seen you sport a Quiksilver speedo at work. Why do you like that?

It makes me feel free! It gets the chicks. It makes the tips. And it makes me swim faster when I’m saving people. It’s aerodynamic, you know.

How would you describe your style?

It’s more of a rock, skate, and surf style. Hardcore.

Tell me about your skateboard company.

Dubz Skateboarding. I’ve been making concave long boards, plain skateboards, and Dubz Originals since 1998.

What makes one of your skateboards a Dubz Original?

They’re 100% Canadian Maple plywood. I cut them out by hand, shape them, and sand them like a surfboard so they’re aerodynamic. Then, I spray paint the base color and hand paint the design. All the boards are lacquered so they’re waterproof. All the art on the board is original.

What’s your favorite Dubz Original board?

The fishtail design is my favorite, just like the fishtail surfboard. I like painting skulls and Hawaiian scenes.

How can someone get their hands on a Dubz board?

I sell them at the Fury Surf Shack.

Why did you move to Key West?

To live in paradise and work on skateboards. No one drives in Key West, so I thought this would be a good town to get my start.
