When it comes to natural beauty, Key West has it as far as the eye can see. From palm trees swaying beneath a blue sky to bougainvillea-lined side streets and gardens filled with hibiscus flowers, we live in a subtropical paradise. There are so many scenic places in Key West to draw you in and make you fall in love with this island. Whether by land, by sea or by sky, get swept up in the beautiful scenery of the Southernmost Point. Here are our top picks for the most scenic places in Key West.
- Coral Reef- Yes, of course we’re going to be partial to the coral reef. To us, there’s nothing more scenic and lovely than strapping on your mask and snorkel and taking the plunge underneath our aquamarine waters to see the underwater world unfold before your very eyes. Swim alongside giant parrotfish and barracuda. Dive down in search of lobster or grouper inside coral coves. Keep your eyes peeled for sea turtles, stingrays and sharks. It’s different every day and it’s always exciting and beautiful!
- Fort Zachary Taylor State Park & Beach- For a scenic afternoon at the beach, head to Fort Zach. With gorgeous views due south into the Atlantic and a front row seat to the boats traveling in and out of Key West Harbor, it’s a great place to relax on the shore or hike around for an adventure.
- Key West Historic Seaport-For a taste of Old Key West, head to the Historic Seaport and take a walk along the docks. Duck into Schooner Wharf or the Conch Seafood Republic for some local color, along with a cold beer and an order of conch fritters.
- Mallory Square at Sunset- There’s perhaps nothing more scenic than a Key West sunset, and the classic place to watch it is at Mallory Square where street performers and musicians put on a show. Of course, if you’re asking us where to watch the sunset, we’re going to tell you aboard the Commotion on the Ocean Key West sunset sail! Another favorite place is on the rooftop at La Concha Hotel. At six stories high, it’s the tallest building in Key West and offers sweeping views down Duval Street and of all the boats in the harbor.
