PRESS RELEASE

Renowned Key West musician makes 1000th performance aboard Fury Water Adventures

Key West, Florida (November 16, 2010)

cory-heydon-press-releaseCory Heydon, one of Key West’s most popular musicians, will make his 1000th performance on Fury Water Adventures Commotion on the Key West Sunset Cruise Thursday, November 18th at 5pm. The invitation only event is a celebration of the success of the island’s most popular sunset cruise and its featured entertainer. According to Fury founder Scott Saunders, “Cory has been an integral part in the growing popularity of our Commotion on the Ocean Sunset Cruise, this event is a great way to culminate the many years of unforgettable experiences we’ve shared with so many Fury guests.”

It was 2008 when Cory Heydon began his stretch onboard Fury Water Adventures’ Commotion on the Ocean Key West Sunset Cruise. Unlike any other sunset cruise, Commotion on the Ocean is a floating concert, with live music, full bar, great food and of course the world-famous Key West Sunset as a picturesque backdrop. Fury’s famed live music sunset sail has built a reputation for the quality of the music and the many renowned musicians who’ve appeared. Heydon, who’s written and recorded several CD’s, is in great company when it comes to Fury performers. The Commotion on the Ocean has hosted many Grammy winning/nominated artists including James Slater, Lee Brice, D. Vincent Williams, Gary Nichols, Kylie Sackley, James Dean Hicks and some of Nashville’s and BMI’s most well-known performers like the Carter Brothers, the Massacoustics and Chris Cook.

Heydon came to Key West in 2004 aboard a cruise ship where he was the onboard entertainer. After traveling to many destinations, Heydon fell in love with the laid-back persona of the island—not to mention the warm tropical weather. After a few years playing at popular Key West bars, Heydon’s singing, songwriting and entertaining abilities lead to his increased popularity, and his opportunity to perform on Fury’s Commotion on The Ocean. Today, Heydon and his band perform every Tuesday through Sunday evening—singing everything from rock, jazz and blues, both original tunes and classics. The rhythms begin when Fury’s Catamaran leaves the dock, pausing as guests, the crew, captain and the band enjoy the spectacular sunset, and then continue on as the boats sails back to its slip. And although Thursday, November 18th marks his 1000th appearance on the Fury, Cory Heydon has treated several hundreds of guests to thousands of sunset serenades over the years.

About Commotion on the Ocean

Fury’s Commotion on the Ocean is Key West’s most popular live music Sunset Cruise. It was created when Fury’s founder, Scott Saunders, had a vision for a Key West sunset sail that featured live music. Working with Key West Songwriters’ Festival founder Charlie Bauer and event organizer Nadene Grossman, Saunders sought out the necessary equipment to make live music on a sailing catamaran a reality. With the help of Bauer, and his entertainment connections and Grossman’s creativity, Commotion on the Ocean was born and began sailing once a week. As its popularity grew among visitors and locals, Fury began receiving requests from both Key West musicians and national artists to perform on the cruise. Today, Commotion on the Ocean is so well known that Fury has two catamarans offering the sail.
