You’ll never understand exactly what goes down during Fantasy Fest until you experience it for yourself. Is it like Mardi Gras? Carnivale? Is it really a party in the street? What’s with the costumes? The body paint? The beads? Is it humanly possible to party ten nights in a row? In Key West, Halloween is all but forgotten in place of a celebration a little bit wilder and a lot more fun.
This year’s “Vixens, Villains, and Vampires” theme proved to be a juicy trifecta for the Fury crew to sink their teeth into. The vixen portion was an easy one to pull off for the ladies of Fury who sashayed from Kelly’s Karnival to the Red Party to the final night of the parade looking downright foxy all week.
The first ever Tutu Tuesday party at Martin’s was a standout soiree offering a breath of whimsy and sweetness to the ghoulish party scene. Girls and boys donned tulle confections around their waists, sipped on champagne specials, and danced to the grooves of the stellar DJ late into the night.
Wednesday’s Red Party at Fogarty’s was definitely a who’s who of the Fury crew. Everyone looked red hot in their red. Stephen stood out as a giant stick of Big Red gum. Shon’s interpretation on a gangsta (grill and all) was entertaining, and Rob’s “gift from God” was downright hilarious. Fury’s owner Scott rocked it with the crew on the dance floor all night!
The second annual parade party at Stephen’s apartment was also a hit. With the parade passing outside the balcony below, the crew mixed and mingled. Marius sported a painted black eye and a t-shirt with “Pp” on it as a conceptual Black Eyed Pea. Scotty took it back to childhood with a stick horse and diapers. And Becky promenaded proudly with her birthday sash and tutu. Of course, vampires abounded, amongst them were Ashley, Corey, and Scotty’s gal Lisa.
Another Fantasy Fest bites the dust… Good thing we’ve got a whole year to recuperate for the next one!
