Somehow December is already here. Is it just me or does it seem like November disappeared in the blink of an eye? At Fury, we had an action-packed Thanksgiving weekend, which began with the delivery of 40 turkey dinners to Keys residents in need. The books were busy for us throughout the long holiday weekend and there were plenty of Thanksgiving meals to feast on, as well!

On Thursday, I worked the parasail boat with Captain Adam and we spent the day flying people off of our two nearly full Ultimate Adventures. It was an absolutely placid, gorgeous day on the water where you could hardly distinguish the horizon line for all the reflective shades of blue and green in the ocean and the sky. The day ran smoothly, and we even had time to grab a bite at the Thanksgiving luncheon in the Call Center in between trips while our customers feasted on their turkey out at sea.

I’m one of the few people who does not get excited over Thanksgiving food, but the turkey lunch was juicy and my favorite, the stuffing, was delicious. I also devoured a few helpings of a broccoli, cauliflower and cheese casserole and a slice of pecan pie cheesecake. Did I mention I love free food prepared by anyone except me?

While many of us worked Thanksgiving Day, others in the Fury crew prepared for company. Adam’s girlfriend was planning a family feast, Steve offered an open invitation to the crew all day long, and Stephen cooked a spread at his place.

My sister (who helped in the preparations) and I headed to Stephen’s house where he hosted Monika, Kamil, Westy, Nicole, and eventually Zac, Andrew, and Mike. I was impressed with the smorgasbord: juicy turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, broccoli casserole, and salad. For dessert he prepared four pumpkin pies (blue ribbon winners according to Westy), which were outrageous, and Nicole’s favorite strawberry rhubarb pie, which was also delicious! Needless to say, there will be leftovers at Stephen’s for weeks!

My contribution to the meal? Poinsettas: sparkling wine with a splash of cranberry juice, the perfect holiday cocktail! We sat around the living room and shared what we were thankful for and enjoyed each other’s company late into the evening.

At Fury, we hope you had a special Thanksgiving surrounded by the people you love. Remember, if you’re ready to shake up your holiday tradition, join us in the tropics for Christmas, Chanukah, or New Years. There’s always a good time to be had when you’re hangin’ with the Fury crew!
