Fury played an important role in a very special concert to help kick off the week of Fantasy Fest. The Ocean Key House Resort, whose marina is home to our glass bottom boat, two catamarans, and one of our parasail boats, hosted Blues Traveler at their Sunset Pier. Fury was tapped to provide a shuttle for John Popper and his band mates to get across the marina and onto their stage at the end of the pier.

The island was abuzz for months since the announcement of this headlining act in the summer concert series and our crew members were psyched to see Blues Traveler perform on our turf. The Key West Fury and its crew made the quick shuttle seamlessly and the band took the stage.

Our newest vessel, the Caribbean Fury, functioned as a VIP party exclusively for the Fury crew and our guests. Our tireless manager Marius set up a great spread for us with a complimentary liquor bar, free-flowing beer, and even pizza. Instead of fighting the crowds to get close to the stage, we strolled up our familiar gangway and spread out. Prime seats were the benches along the top deck, the helm, and our “luxury box seats” atop our life rafts.

Blues Traveler put on a great show with such crowd-pleasing covers as Sublime’s “What I Got” and Charlie Daniels’ “Devil Went Down to Georgia,” as well as their most popular singles “Hook,” “But Anyway,” and of course “Run Around.” The band was having a great time and exclaimed that they loved the Key West crowd. They even gave a shout out to Fury for our excellent water taxi services.

All in all it was the perfect way to end the weekend’s Goombay festivities and usher in the wild week of Fantasy Fest. A big thank you to Scott and Marius for treating the crew to yet another stellar party!
