At Fury, we’re more than just a company. We’re more like a family. We spend so many of our waking hours together on the boats and on the island, it’s inevitable that we get close. Longtime Fury family member Stephen Reddy (who also happens to be one of my very best friends) and his wife Krissy, manager of the Surf Shack, were delivered some pretty tough news last week. Their two-year-old son Liam was diagnosed with Wilms, a rare kidney cancer.
In Key West and at Fury, we’re collectively heartbroken. It’s unimaginable news that’s left us reeling. For anyone who’s met Liam, he’s the sweetest, most well behaved, inquisitive and happy baby boy. He’s brought so much joy to Stephen and Krissy, and to all of us as we’ve watched him grow over the years.
With Thanksgiving this week, many of us are spending quality time with our own families and recounting what we’re thankful for. Unquestionably, good health is at the top of our list, and we want to see Liam back in good health. While we spend time with our families, Liam, will definitely be in our hearts, mind and prayers.
Captain JB, who is also one of Stephen’s best friends, created a GoFundMe page for Liam, and in just a few days, he’s already exceeded the halfway mark of his $50,000 goal. It just shows how many people love and care about this family. If you can, please donate.
The Surf Shack has also created a “Surf’s Up Liam” bracelet in adult and child sizes for a $5 donation.
If you’re in town this Saturday November 30 from 6 to 9 p.m., please come out to Bahama Village where our friends at The Creperie are throwing Liam’s first fundraiser. Enjoy delicious crepes and French fare, live music and a cash bar for a $25 donation.
Next up, Liam’s Christmas Wish fundraiser will take place December 11 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Historic Seaport (631 Greene St.). For a $25 donation, enjoy a great Key West holiday evening with The Cory Heydon Band and all you can drink. All proceeds will go directly to the Reddy family to help them with the challenging road ahead to get Liam well.
We wish everyone a happy holiday season and ask for you to keep the Reddy family in your prayers. If you’re able to donate (every dollar counts) it would mean the world to us. We’re coming together with our Fury family to support our own. Have a blessed holiday.
