The annual Lighted Boat Parade dazzled Key West Harbor Saturday night as schooners, sloops, and fishing boats joined the Key West Fury in the watery holiday promenade. Marius’ vision was 20’ Christmas trees (we settled for ten footers) on the top deck sparkling with multi-colored lights and glittery ornaments. The safety rails would shine with loops of white light.

Shon was appointed with the task of finding the decorations and Stephen was Marius’ logistical right hand man. We showed up Saturday morning and got to work trimming our two gorgeous trees. In the evening, when our sunset trip returned to the dock, all hands were on deck to cover our 65’ catamaran with sparkling holiday cheer.

We pulled off the dock as Cory Heydon & the band struck up some tunes including a few Elvis Christmas classics. Mr. Saunders took the mic momentarily to thank everyone for all of their hard work throughout the year, and then the party was on. Andy Saunders delivered, as always, with an incredible spread including cocktail shrimp, salmon tartines, lobster dip, and finger sandwiches.

The night air was warm and peaceful and the dark harbor shone with lights. Schooners were fully rigged creating beautiful glistening outlines. Some were creative with Christmas trees, the Grinch, angels, or Santa. A small fishing boat covered every square inch with lights creating quite the spectacle. My favorite was a sloop whose rigging was outlined in peaceful blue lights while its hull was strung in waves resembling the ocean (notice the last shot in the video).

It was a fun and festive evening during this most wonderful time of the year. Check out more gorgeous pictures on our facebook and flickr pages. Next up, the crew is looking forward to our annual holiday party at Ambrosia sushi bar this weekend. We’ll certainly share some party pix with you and yours! Happy Holidays!
